70 Mach 1 428 C6 Dearborn Early Car
Looking for what the shifter rod and the lockout rod finish should be. The MCA guidelines if I am reading them correctly state "Cadmium finish, including 70 lockout rod"
So would that be Silver or Gold Cad or something else? I assume that is for both rods. I looked in all the unrestored pics but I can't seem to find a good underneath photo showing linkage clearly. The ones I do see seem to be more of a P&O or dark phosphate finish
I know the kickdown rod is yellow cad.
Thanks

On pg 55 of the Osborne Chassis assembly manual there is a small table thats gives the rod colors (silver, red & yellow) for the three different automatics. The C6 is shown to have a red shift rod (D0ZA-7340-B) & lock rod (D0ZE-7E330-N) I assume they are all Cad plated. If you dont have a chassis manual I will post a pic.
Also, I looked at the Ford Listing of Numerical Finishes to see if I could determine what type of finish Cadmium is and I think youre looking at S39, Cadmium plate 0.0005" (electrolytic or mechanical).

All I can offer. At least on the lock out it may have been zinc dichromate and over years lost the gold dye or just cad. from two different unrestored cars
