Where can I get a lower control arm plug to put in place of the zerk fittings I have installed? I understand the plug is 1/4-28 tapered plug. A small 1/4-28 bolt fits in the hole properly but a 1/2 inch long bolt is definitely too long. And I understand these need to be red also as this started during the 1968 year. The part number for the plug is 374714 by the way.

Thought they were available from Max at AMK. Most or allot of his stuff is carried at places like NPD. Did you check there?

AMK number B-13127 for the six bolt pack.

I found the AMK part listed on their website but couldn't get through on their phone number. Also NPD sales rep couldn't locate the part. Where else can I get that AMK part,?

Man, thank you Charles. This could not have been any harder. I've ordered some from Virginia Mustang. If they don't work, I'll have to get these. thank you for this info.

where did you get the idea those plugs were red?

I was reading an older thread here and found reference to http://www.anghelrestorations.com/
When you go to there site they have a document describing the finishes for the suspension for the 65 to 73 years. In the document it mentions beginning in 68 the plug iin the lower control arm is painted red CORRECTION RED DYE. I've attached that document too. You'll see a picture of the arm on page 8 with the red plug and on the page 9 it mentions this begins in the 68 year.

Not painted red but a red dye product . I use Dychem red layout dye to mimic the look for example.
