Title: 68 390gt fb Rear bumper guards
Post by: adam8888d on April 12, 2022, 09:35:09 AM
Hi all. Does anyone know what the deal was with rear bumper guards?

Was they an option or standard?
Did they all have rubbers?
Was there a choice of Chrome, black or color coded to the car?

I didn't have any rear guards on the car so i would like to get it right. :)

Thank you.

I believe they were optional in 1968. That may have changed during the model year.

They are always body color and with the rubber strip in 1968.

If you have a buck tag or build sheet there may be a call out.

The car is a January 68. The rear valance has been replaced but the holes for the mounting bracket are still there. So i guess there should be Acapulco blue?
Thank you for your reply.

If you have them on the rear you also have them on the front. The front ones are chrome with no rubber strip on a 68.
