Title: Clone hipo distributor
Post by: Shawn on April 21, 2022, 06:14:15 PM
I've seen these before but cant recall who fabricates them.  Looking for a block off plate or something that's not as obvious appearing for removing the vacuum advance on a 289 distributor.  Going with a setup that requires removal of the vacuum and wanted a clean appearing distributor.

Thanks

Actually, Ford made them.

Here is one where the seller did his best to hide the fact that there is a factory delete plate over the vacuum advance section.

About 15-20 years ago, I bought one off of e-bay. The seller did a full refund after I returned it. It was a "reworked" standard 260/269/302 distributor sold by Ford to be a HP distributor, had an aluminum cover plate (more of a cup) where the vacuum advance went. It would work fine in any HP engine, but looked "strange".

yes a factory block off plate is what i'm looking for.  bad choice of words with "clone" in subject line.  Certainly not trying to disguise anything just plug the hole after the vacuum is removed.  Would be great if something is available with grinding off the vacuum mount cast area.  If no luck may just try something on my own but moisture may be a concern.  May just go MSD for my project as plan b
