Hi.
Prompted from another forum it was mentioned serial numbers no more than about 2500 have been seen on Bendix AM-FM radios. I've got F6TBZ 001848 dated Feb 8 1966.
What have others got or seen?

Your title suggests that AM FMs were available in 66 so going to fix that as a first step
Going to be tough to document since few have their original window stickers and these were such a popular (if you could find one) to add to your show car in the 80's to try and stand out in the crowd of other similar cars. IMHO allot fo the cars we will find today with them are not likely original to that car. But good luck with the search

Thanks, Jeff
Revised it a bit, not so much confirming originally installed. More tracking down how many Bendix radios may have been produced compared to the later reproduction versions.

Just to decode the radio alpha prefix:
F6TBZ
F=AM/FM radio
6=Year
T=Amplification Style=Transistor
B=Bendix
Z=Mustang

I have no data on numbers of units.

There was an external method to determine some radio manufacturers. I believe that because Philco was owned by Ford, the glass on those radios had "Philco" ink stamped on the inside of them. That may have been year (65 or 66) specific. Also, the tuning dial ink stamping on AM radios was different between manufactures. Some started "5", others with "56". I went thru this some 25 years ago to ID mine, but I don't remember the specifics. That too may have been year (65 or 66) specific.
