FYI the date code is part of the ink stamp on the body. The molded letter and number on the top of the yellow portion of the coil is not the date code.

A slight "correction". The date code stamp is applied to the coil as a second operation. It is applied within the basic coil stamp in the rectangle on the right. Most of the time it looks OK, but it does get smeared.
Attached is a usable sample of the coil stamp that most stamp making shops can use to make one. If I remember, the date code letters are 12 point Calibri type.

Jim, your diagram brings up another question I had, when was the switch from the Fomoco coil to the Autolite coil....

With what is on page #33 of article and my records somewhere between April and June 1966. Exact date may different slightly depending on where the coil was made if the supplier and more than one plant. Sort of like The switch from the castings on a V8 Fuel pump

Not Jim but sometime in the latter part of 66 production.
