Title: 1970 Turn Signal Housings Plating?
Post by: rcgt350 on March 16, 2023, 12:23:24 AM
I?m looking for confirmation on the plating finish for 70? Turn Signal Housings?
I thought they were Silver Zinc, but I?m hearing more now that Yellow Dichromate is correct like 69?s were if that still stands for 69? too.

They should be silver zinc in 70.  Thanks to Marcus Anghel there is a good article on them in the 1970 library.

I found the answer last night, forgot that I had the cars  original housings tucked away, so I got them out and cleaned a small area off of each one, Dichromate finish appeared, and in addition the wiring harnesses are the exposed 2) wire versions.

Did you take a look at the article in the library?  The socket was dichromate but the body should be silver/clear.  69s had the dichromate.  Marcus has access to a lot of original parts and I myself went through 5 sets to get a good pair to have plated.  They all showed as silver/clear.  Apparently Ford did at one point sell a 69 housing with a 2 wire connector as a mistake.

I?ve looked at his site lots, but my original housings are still Dichromate
