I see that these are hard to find, or just not available.
The thing I'd like to know is what is the difference between the early cars and the late (post December 66) ones. Just making sure the difference is not at the transmission.

+1 my barn find convertible has the double plug. built 12/22/66

I should have mentioned: Built at San Jose.
This car has a single, square, black connector. Wires are: light blue/red tracer, black/red tracer, red/blue tracer, red/blue tracer. Makes sense as two of those are for the reverse lights.
I did a search and under the C4 trans. there were photos of the twin split two connector safety switch/reverse light connector. My concern is mainly the trans mounting issue if any.

Don't believe or recall any difference in the metal body that bolts to the transmission between the two

True, physically just bolts on, just like the original. And, the electric plug matches the car's. Just some kind of catalog information that is likely information not needed for this car.
