Title: Mach 1 non-Ram Air Hood Scoop black-out paint
Post by: Rusty on October 11, 2023, 09:34:48 AM
Should the hood scoop on a non-ramair Mach 1 be painted the same shade as the hood? As I understand it, shaker scoops would be semi-gloss but I'm not sure if that applies to the non functional scoops as well.

I did search and couldn't find anything. The link you posted talks about products to use but doesn't address the question I have. I'm asking because my car is being restored and they are ready to prep and paint the hood blackout. My car is a non-shaker car. The painter said he was under the impression that the scoop should be semi-gloss black and the hood should be low gloss. My understanding, however, is that is the way ram air Mach 1's should be but the non-ram air cars should be all low gloss. That's the clarification I'm looking for.
