I looked thru some older posts but could not find a good photo. Does anyone have anything to share that shows a 68 trunk light installed. Looking how the wiring was routed and clipped. Also if there was any overspray of the body color. Working on a 1968 coupe but assume the convertibles would be the same or similiar to look at.

It is shown on page 61 of the electrical assembly manual. Interestingly it is shown on the driver's side. I once had a 67 that had that option, and it was on the driver's side.

+1 67 on driver's side. Same for fuel level wiring, standard and with convenience control. Shifted from LH to RH side for the 1968 MY

Thanks for the input. So I assume the only clip that is used for the wiring near the trunk lid and hinge area is this one that I pointed out in the photo.

You could try to identify the retainer with a Ford part number so in the future, if someone is looking for a "replacement", they can find one.
I don't know how exact this one is, "they" say it is -

May I suggest also listing the Ford Part number for the grommet? The grommet is most likely the same as my 67, which as it turns out, the same as a 65 Thunderbird so my assumption (hate using the word) is the grommet is the same across multiple Ford carlines, in this position (trunk light), for multiple model years.

May I suggest that you get a set of Mustangs Assembly Manuals for your year Mustang. There are several "grommets" listed and most seem to be from other year and model Fords.

Since I'm not working on a 68 (the focus of this thread), I have no desire to assume the grommet is the same as the 67 that I do own but deductive reasoning suggests it IS the same, I do have the full set of Assembly Manuals for my 67, as well as a printed copy of the EXCEL hardware sheets you have provided (available in the site's Library section ~many Thanks Jim). I have these printed EXCEL spreadsheets sorted both alphabetical as well as numerically to exclude (as much as practical) options that do not apply to my specific project (the EXCEL program has excellent sorting features)...all of this was a HUGE asset in the final assembly process, especially with having the AMK paper catalog alongside. May every member of this site do likewise for their build.

Yes, that's the same grommet number. It is made out of unobtainium in NEW form. The only source I am aware of is 1960's era Ford products that have a trunk light option. (again, a person can now search the FORD Master Parts Catalog aka the MPC, using the C4AB-14603-A number and find all other applications where it can be found in the wild...hence the initial reason I suggested adding mention of the grommet to this particular thread).

NPD has it listed as stock number 14603-1K. I don't know the material.

AMK has them, part number B-10235.
Plastic.
