Ideally looking for date correct...but have some wiggle room if I cant find that.  The car was built Feb 27 1969.  Its for a GT500.

You are working the wiggle angle with your answer. ;) I asked what date range  so I and others know what would be is acceptable to you. Maybe ideal range given your known concern about details and maybe a outside range that is less so . One week ,one month, two months etc. Please give prerequisite date range info so someone doesn't waste your or their time .

Looks like I should have a rebuilt (dist and advance)  one on the shelf with a 8J10 date

My records show the J's being used up into December and possibly a little later at the engine plant

Also at least one for sale on Ebay

Thanks guys.
So Jeff (and Bob) I would be ok with a 8J10 date code as possible, even if its on the wider range for a distributor than what we would expect.  I have seen 6 month gap on some, which for some people may not be ideal, but have seen a few so Im ok with that.

As for the one that is listed on Ebay its a fake.  If you look close at the the photo of the stamping you can see its been messed with.  Its a $50 distributor that someone restamped to make it be something that its not.

Jeff....send me a message and let me know details.
