I am trying to determine the correct disc brake reservoir lid for my 1969 Dearborn April 69 390, 4 speed. I have seen various lids with different wording that stated they were factory so I'm confused which one is right.
Sorry if this topic was already covered in another thread but I searched the forum and came up empty. Thanks.

The cap was painted black along with the master cylinder when installed on the assemblyline.

Was a chrome reservoir lid ever included as an option from the factory on a 390 engine in 1969? If so, does anyone have any pictures of one of these lids?
I have read here on the forum that a chrome engine package was available for a 390 engine in 1969 but there doesn't seem to be agreement on whether a chrome reservoir lid was part of that package. It sounded like some forum members had this chrome lid on their 390 Mustangs that came with the engine chrome package.
Thanks.

From the MCA 1969 Judging Sheet
DD. Master Cylinder, Power Brake Unit and Rigid Brake Lines:
Master Cylinder: Semi-gloss black including vacuum connector.
Cap: Semi-gloss black. Early 69 - debossed with correct decal. Others - embossed no decal,
must have USE ONLY ESA-M6C25-A BRAKE FLUID CAUTION.

A chrome master cylinder cap is not a legitimate assemblyline option. It is a common after market add on. As already mentioned it would be a deduction in concours because it is not correct .

Thanks Keith and Bob.

Did some research on the 69 390 dress up option a few years back for a Mustang Monthly article that some one was writing. The master cylinder was not included. Since we don't see many 390 69's not as much digging into details has not been done as let's say Boss or 428 CJ cars
