Title: Finish on parts
Post by: wll17057 on November 20, 2024, 06:29:58 PM
What's the best source to identify the finish on parts...bolts, nuts, etc.?

I reviewed the parts spreadsheet in the LIBRARY and can't identify a finish entry.

The assemblyline manuals typically show all of the fasteners for a given illustration of a area being assembled. In the illustration the fastener will be given a 5 or 6 digit code which is the fastener identification number . After the fastener identification number is the finish code . example S2= Phosphate and oil,S8=zinc plate or silver etc. FYI the companion book to the assemblyline manuals is called AMK Products guide to fasteners which decodes all of the Ford numbers and provides a picture of what the fastener looks like.
