Title: 1964.5 260 CID engine color sheen
Post by: Corey Bowcutt on January 31, 2025, 01:38:14 PM
I am getting my 260 CID engine rebuilt.  The shop asked if I wanted it gloss or semi-gloss black.  Does anyone know what sheen of black the block should be?

Thank you,

Corey

Semi-gloss is generally accepted, I'd say a range between satin and semi-gloss.

Full gloss is a definite no.

Thank you Charles.  Much appreciated.

While I am at it do you or anyone know what color blue is used for valve covers and air cleaner?

A good match is Grabber Blue.  That's what I used on the pace car I restored:  https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1965-ford-mustang-321/

Thank you Charles.  That is one beautifully restored car.  I captured those pictures a year ago or so and reference them often.  I did not realize you restored it.  Exceptional work.

So I should just purchase the 1969 grabber blue color.  That is easy.

Thanks again.
