Title: What stamp date code to use for 4/20/64 built coupe?
Post by: sdgrant on June 13, 2011, 07:24:44 PM
I'm about to bring the PC in to have the '66-style dimples removed from the underhood section of the driver's fender. The fender is a factory replacement, unfortunately with these '66-style dimples. While it's in for this work, I want to have a proper factory-looking stamp date put into the fender. With a scheduled build date of 4/20/64, I was thinking of a stamp date that was in line with other original stamp dates, something like 4 2 C2.  Would this be a good code to use?

Take it that this is for a Dearborn  built car.  Don't have allot of data points but for a April built car I would place it a month before the car was thought to be assembled.

Yes, Dearborn car - 4/20/64. No San Jose or Metuchen Mustang production at that time. I think I'll go with a date I found on the rear trunk support - 3 26 C2

Hi Steve
We have cars that were very close to each other in DAP!    Mine is 116056 rolled on 4/20/64 also.
While I can't help with fender dates, I have just started to document many of the panels on my car.   (Let me know what "trunk panel location" you were referring -I'll double check mine)  I don't think it will help -this car only got it's drivetrain on 4/20.

This car has just over 10K miles and is solid - so I will try and get as many of the sheet metal dates off and document. (something I didn't do on my original sheet metal 1969 SCJ that Jeff asked for a month late)
