Hi All,
I am looking for a chromer shop that can make the backside of the parts dull like Originals. I need to chrome the back up lights, outside door handles and gas cap.
Anyone have experience with someone please?

Its probably going to be cheaper to replace those parts than replate them

Is there a post somewhere comparing people?s experiences with various chrome shops?
There?s some stuff that would be nice to rechrome the original part rather than going with an incorrect repro, or NOS where the later made part doesn?t match exactly, or the chrome that wasn?t that great in the first place, looks even worse after 50 or 60 years on a shelf.

You are better off IMO finding NOS door handles ,back up lights and gas cap . Besides the initial cost that chrome plating has inflated to, the reason is that most of the time after chrome plating the specific items you mention come back with corners and edges rounded off to a noticeable degree. For example rechromed parts with the rounded off edges are subject to point deductions in concours . At the very least it is not like original. Compared to the other hard to find parts you have wanted over the past few years the items you are thinking of rechroming are still out there to a greater degree. On things like back up lights the short answer is that you can take a body from a service replacement and uncrimp and recrimp the proper receptacle with assemblyline type wiring from a good donor. Keep in mid that in this back up light instance you will have to remove the receptacle for chrome plating also.
