Of course it will work but FYI the C5AE-8501-K wasn't used on a 66 . Changeover was 66 job 1 to the C6OE from all evidence.

Ford "engineering number" C5AE-8501-K is referenced in Bob Mannel's book, "Mustang and Ford Small /Block V8 1962-1969" in Appendix E (Water Pumps, Pg E6) for use in 66/67. Have you got any other information? Just curious.

I misspoke. I didn't even look at Bob M book and had the C5OE-B on the brain. That rare one is what I am used to seeing and what I immediately thought of when the C5AE K number came up. I for one have never even seen or heard of a C5AE-K in use so at the very least it must be more rare then the 3 month production run of the C5OE-B at the end of 65 production. Have you ever come across one in a original context or otherwise other then what is mentioned in Bob's appendix? I certainly have not seen them all but given over many years of searching and never come across one or even heard about one ,if any were used past 1965 so it would no doubt be the exception rather then the rule for use on a 66 IMO. Of course Bob's appendix identifies the C5AE-K with a C6OE-A casting number so I am not sure how you would identify it other then a C6OE-A if you were holding it in your hand. ;)

Thanks Bob. I vaguely remember that there was a "strange" water pump casting number discussed but I didn't remember where or specifics.
