Title: Engine identification
Post by: bwross on August 30, 2011, 09:18:50 AM
This is probably going to be the dumb question of the day......I know that there is a number stamped on the engine block that identifies it....so on a 289 where is that number stamped?  And, is there a magic decoder that breaks down the number once I locate it?

thanks
Bruce

The block casting number is located behind the starter motor on the passenger side of the block.

Use this resource to decode it.
