Title: Paint on back side of headlight bucket
Post by: sparky65 on September 09, 2011, 09:47:47 PM
Would the back side of the headlight bucket be painted body color, red oxide with over spray, or bare pot metal with over spray?  Probably should have thought of this sooner but just thinking of it know as I go to install the buckets.   :-[

They should have some over spray on them. Marty

Thanks Marty.  No primer then, just bare pot metal with over spray.  I guess I need to recreate the bare pot metal look.

Steve,
The line worker was only interested in painting the outside, he did not car about the back so you expect to see paint over spray with some primer in the tight areas.

Allot of the ones I see have allot of nice exterior color on them (consider the direction of paint application of the exterior surfaces and you will understand why) but allot less in the nooks and crannies on the back side.

A base of falr gray (play with some rattle cans) should fill your need to reproduce the original pot metal - remember to use only light coats so as not to look painted ;)
