Everything I have read and have seen on restored cars, the Under Hood light bulb is positioned such that it points to the rear of the hood. Mine won't come on when in that position, it comes on when you close the hood. If I position it such that the bulb is at the front of the hood it works fine. Is mine different for some reason or is this the way it should work?

Sound like it may have been a trunk light. They work just the opposite of the hood light. Have you got any pictures? Marty

That was my first thought, but I have the trunk light and the mounting bracket is different.

Here is a pic of it inverted so that I could get it to work, the fuse has been pulled. The position of the bulb, top of the pic, is towards the hood front. Mike

Mike,
I have a original on my 67 GTA and that is how it goes. Bulb up or forward. Marty

Hi Marty, Thanks for the verification, one less thing I have to be concerned with. Mike

IMHO you light is mounted incorrectly. Here is a picture of our 67 SJ built 11-04-66 hood light.
Seems I need some new glases instead of Mustang parts^^
