Title: Remote Mirror Lever Location
Post by: MWM on October 21, 2011, 04:06:13 PM
I adding a remote mirror on the drivers side.  Since the replacement mirror does not have instructions, can anyone help me with the location of the lever on the inside so I can measure twice and cut once?
thank you!

There is a hole in the door itself that the control cables pass thru to the door panel. It's located low and forward, about 2 1/4 inches back from the front edge of the door and about 3 inches up from the lower edge of the door panel. I don't remember if standard door panels have the pre-cut hole but on one car I had to put the nut clips in the standard door panel vs putting them in the door itself. To install you have to remove the three cables from the control (needle nose pliers) and they are supposed to be marked for reinstallation but use different color felt tip pins or paint dabs on cables and attaching point on the control before disassembly to make sure. The three cables come thru the door panel which must be installed first then the control assembly.

On my April 13th '65 Dearborn car, which I believe came with the visibility pack, the lever plate is located
1 1/2 " back from the front of the door panel to the front of the plate.
2" up from the bottom of the door panel to the bottom of the plate.
