This pertains to the tail light fiberglass panels used on CS and HCS cars. Did the SJ plant use strip caulk between this panel and the body? Any Ford documents or assembly information exist that shows this step in the assembly process? The same panel seems to be in use on 68 Shelby production altnough not sure if Ford installed the added tail light panel on the cars destined for Shelby/A. O. Smith use or it was added by the folks at A. O. Smith during the mods to make the cars into Shelbys. Any input on this is much appreciated and in particular images of CS or HCS unrestored cars showing the area of this panel where it joins the body at the trunk opening.

John yes there was the dark gray/black strip chalking applied at San Jose around the taillight covers and at least along the top edge of the taillight panel
Below are shots of our Calif Special when I removed the fiberglass taillight cover. Car was mostly all original paint (a couple of areas touched up over time
Hope this helps - glad I remember to take pictures of what (at the time) doesn't al;ways seem very important ;)
