A friend, who is a Gold Card judge (but for 71-73s), tells me that to "complete" the concours restoration of my 69 SJ small block vert, that I should add an Autolite radiator cap with the brass center button. The car now has a zinc Autolite cap -- but no brass button.
I have never seen/or noticed one on a '69 before. Anybody know if they were used for that particular year?
Thanks,
Bill

The button style radiator cap (verses the rivet style) is what I've typically seen on San Jose Mustangs across many of the years most often.
Does the one you have use a zinc plated button rather than the brass one (the only difference) or do you have something else

PS sorry I didn't address this more promptly earlier :(

Yes, it does have the zinc plated button as you can see in this photo. (It's an AMK part.)

Been thinking about it - and I would believe that originally you car would have had the brass one. Will a judge deduct for the zinc one - just depends on the judge.
