Title: 66 Ivy Green Hertz Shelby
Post by: ChrisV289 on January 22, 2012, 12:03:14 AM
My father and I were at Barrett yesterday and saw the car in person and watched it go across the block today on TV...Our understanding was that the Ivy green Hertz cars only came with the side stripes and did not have the LeMans stripes....Is this true?  The car also had a passenger side mirror installed as well.  Was this optional or should they not come with them?  Also does anyone know what the production numbers were for each color (white, red, blue, green, black...)?

Contact Rick Kopec at the SAAC. I'm sure he'd know. He's been an authority of Shelby's as far back as I can remember.

From the SAAC Registry-4th Edition-2011 (http://www.virginiaclassicmustang.com/SAAC-SHELBY-REGISTRY-1965-1966-1967-4TH-EDITION-2011-P198686.aspx), here is the breakdown of Hertz car colors:

Black 751
Red  60
Blue 56
Green 59
White  70
Unknown 6

I would have to read more, but I believe most, if not all, Green Hertz cars did not have any LeMans stripes from SA.  Lots of 65-66's did not have LeMans stripes from SA, and they were added a short time later.

I don't believe any 65-66 cars came from SA with a RH side mirror.  Again, this was something the dealer or owner may have added later.

You would want to talk or ask Howard Pardee not Rick since Howard it the one that is the caretaker of the 65-66 Shelby info. ;)

Not IMHO odd to see a 66 Hertz originally with out Lemans stripes though its different to see one without today.
