I assume that this grove should not be in the clutch linkage and has worn there from 40+ years of use. I'm planning to fill the groove with weld and handwork back to the correct shape. Does anyone have any different recommendations other than replace it?
In regards to the clutch release rod, is this particular piece unique to the 64.5? I haven't seen a reproduction replacement exactly like this one.
The car is an April '64 production, V8 with 5-bolt bell housing and 4-speed trans.
VIN 5F07D113769
Thanks for the feed back and information from all of the users here.

It will be tricky to weld up that groove and get it back round and smooth. Probably taking several hours worth of work, but so long as it's sweat equity, guess that's ok. Personally, I would probably replace it.
The push-pin is unlike any I have seen. The typical '65 one is just a long shaft with pointed round tip. The other end is open.
