Title: Shelby wood steering wheel protection
Post by: ceswert on February 25, 2012, 10:48:10 AM
Is there a coating that protects my 67 Shelby's wood steering wheel from hand sweat or other material that may be present? Should I be concerned about slow wood degradation? I really don't want to wear driving gloves.

Wear the gloves, it's the lesser of many evils. I grew up driving in Massachusetts and learned to drive with gloves, still do in California. However, you might consider varnish but you will wear it off.
I just looked at the top of my gun cabinet and there's a bottle of Neats Foot Oil up there. Maybe that or a similar oil that can be absorbed would work.

Thanks Jim. Gloves sound like the answer.
