Title: Grille hardware / hood bumper
Post by: sparky65 on March 03, 2012, 05:52:18 PM
I was installing my grille yesterday and I think I am missing a washer or something.  The hood bumper holds the two ends of the grille to the tabs on the radiator support.  The hood bumpers have a nut on the threads so that you can lock them at the correct height.  Did anything go in between this nut and the tab on the grille?  I noticed my tabs on the grille have teeth marks in them like a washer with teeth was in there?  Its the exact same marks that are on the grille where it attaches to the hood latch support bracket.

Steve,
No washers go there. It seems like there should be but no. It looks like some one put fender bolts there.  Some cars had a over sized 5/16 nut. It took a 9/16 wrench. You grill is looking good!

That's what I was afraid of.  I guess I need to take it back off and fill in those marks.  Should have seen it earlier.  Thanks for the paint sample by the way.  I ended up matching it to the paint available from NPD and it seemed dead on so I used that instead of getting paint mixed.
