I have never owned an automatic car, does anyone have pics/advice for installation, seems like my kickdown is awful tight, i had to make my own bushings, maybe have to reem out a little more. I am not positive it is the correct kickdown.
-
Do you have the correct spacer plate and intake?
Changing the height throws things off.
A newer Holley 4150 series won't make a difference as far as I know.
-
yes all is correct,im thinking i have possibly the wrong kickdown rod, pics would help of the linkages all connected, its probably just my mistake, crawling under the car sucks, i need some ramps
-
Have a look here for kickdown rod pics:

-
I have the wrong kickdown and shifter linkage also. Maybe thats why it was binding.

$150 will get you a repro here:

Check your carb numbers just to be safe:

I have a 70 428 auto, non-a/c carb, but it's in pieces.
I'll have to see if it would make for a helpful pic.

shifter works thanks to the right parts from JD Larsen allclassicmustang, NOS rod and connecting parts. That makes me feel better. Got a BS kickdown on ebay ordered on from MrBill at mansfield, sure i will be happy then too. My carb is the right carb for 70 scj auto

this thing is kicking my behind, could use some kickdown linkage pics
-
If no one beats me to it, I can post some pics tomorrow night. what do you need pics of , the trans end, or the carb end ?? I have an absolutley unmessed with 70 C6 from a 34K mile scj car that I parted out in the early 1980's sitting on a shelf, I'm guessing that you need a pic of the trans end.. IF my memory serves me correctly, the bolt on kick down lever on the trans moves the kickdown rod farther away from the trans than the earlier lever, I'll try and get a pic of both parts.. John
UPDATE>>ACTUALLY.... Look at the last pic posted here.... http://www.428cobrajet.org/id-kickdown.html (http://www.428cobrajet.org/id-kickdown.html) This shows the 70 lever well, If you have the 69 lever, the kickdown will bind up..
-
trans end, i got all the right parts now, just doesnt seem right, my car was missing all the little pieces. Doubt anyone will beat you to it, i got a 70 lever
-
I was thinking about that pipe plug sticking out, so how about this as an alternative to bending any parts to clear it.
I'd go with brass or stainless so it won't rust in there.
-
thats why i want to see a picture of how it is supposed to look under there, the plug is correct that is installed now, for some reason when i see what it is supposed to look like it is easier to make it right

just had to tweek the angles on the detent rod a little, hooked it up. Now to complete transmission cooler lines.
