Title: Choke tube into exhaust manifold, repro too large?
Post by: Sunlitgold68 on May 09, 2012, 12:16:20 AM

Helping a friend get his choke working and the reproduction choke tube that presses into the exhaust manifold is huge and looks impossible to fit into the small fitting at bottom. Any trick to this?

I would check to see if there are remnants of the old tube still in the hole.

Might have to drill it out.  Be sure to use an air blower and vacuum to get the shavings out.  Otherwise they'll end up inside your choke chamber on the carb.

As others have indicated it is all to often that a tube is snapped off at the base giving the indication that the hole is smaller then it really is . It drills out realitively easily just watch the shavings as Charles posted.
