In 1979, I was hunting a 1965 Convertible. My neighbor had one he had bought a few years prior, in his car building sitting beside his 2 restored Packards. I considered buying it but for some reason bought the 66 that I still have instead.
His 65 convertible has been in his car building ever since and in the past 40 years he drove it less than 50 miles. Today at church, he told me he wants to sell it because he has cancer and will not get around to restoring it. It is very original and has never been restored. It has never been wrecked and hasn't felt rain in at least 40 years.
It's a Caspian Blue C-Code, Automatic. Still has original radiator. All fender aprons and door tag agree. No Air.

In the current condition, going to be tough to get $11k for that car. Probably more like $5-7k would be realistic, assuming the sheet metal is really nice. Looks like a restoration project to me.

That's what I thought too. I just told him I would pass the word. The sheet metal is great and all original to the car. Definitely a ground up project. I forgot to look but it probably has about 25,000 miles on it.

-I'd like to see more pictures....I think for an original car like that (Even got the condenser on the alternator) if the engine will turn and everything is there and no real rust issues that someone would be money ahead to buy it for near the asking price being is how its been in dry storage for so long.

Looks like a really nice project... it looks as if it may have had a repaint (or just the front left fender repaint)...look at the third picture...

The engine starts and runs nicely. He said he drove it A LITTLE a couple of years ago. Then he said he would not trust driving it right now without loosening up the brake system.
It it very original and has had a repaint back in the mid 70's.
The OEM fuel pump has been replaced.

He may choke me for this but I'm just gonna post his name and phone number (he's in the phone book anyway) and let y'all contact him directly.
The car is 200' from his house in his building. He's probably pretty firm on the $11k.

I notice it has a DRAFT TUBE just like my Rangoon Red Dearborn C-Code convertible had. It was 5F08C397821

So its got a mix of 64.5 and 65 parts then which makes it more valuable to some- I didn't check the date of scheduled manufacture but I'll bet its close to the change-over from 64.5 to 65 production time frame.

I didn't think the road draft tube was strictly a "'64.5 thing", I thought Mannel's book stated the road draft tube was discontinued by Ford in March '65.
