What color should the AC suction hose be on 65 V8 from SJ? The one I currently have on the car is like a dark brownish color...
-
You mean the sight glass hose? Those are usually black, but I have seen some turn a shade of dark brown with age.
-
No the other hose going from the compressor to the evaporator...Also would the ends have any part numbers on them? I have the oppurtinity to get what appears to be a NOS set but there are no part numbers on the ends but the sight glass hose has a small Ford decal on one of the ends...It also comes with the elusive bracket that attaches to the cowl brace...Not that I need that but you never know...If you look at the pic below you can see one hose is brownish

That looks ok to me, but most are used to seeing both hoses black.
Have seen some engineering numbers on the crimped ends, but not all of them had it. Yes, seen the decal on the ends, believe you can get those repro.

I just bought this set of AC hoses that are supposed to be original, I'm guessing for 65, 260 or 289. Do these hoses look correct? The suction hose is larger/thicker than what you see compared to reproduction ones. The sight glass has more sights than reproduction as well.
-
The short hose is the only one that looks correct for a 65-66 mustang.
-
Charles,
Thanks. That is disappointing as the hoses had C4AA and C4ZA lead in part numbers on them. I wonder what car they do belong on, a Falcon? I guess I will be checking on the return policy:). It would be nice to see original hoses if anyone has pictures available.

The long hose without the sight glass looks like it might be ok. Is that the one with C4ZA numbers?
-
Charles,
The long hose without the sight glass is the suction hose, it does not have a part number on it, just FoMoCo on one end and "F" on the other.
The short discharge hose has this part number stamped onto it: C4ZA-19972-A.
The sight glass hose has this part number stamped on it: C4AA-19837-C.
-
The C4AA is definitely not something we typically see on factory-installed A/C. Depending on what you paid for the set, might be best to keep the other 2 and maybe sell the sight glass piece.
-
Charles, what do you 'Definitely Typically' see on Factory Installed A/C?

The sight glass hose for a 65-66 mustang has the larger end where the sight glass is, similar to this:
