its in front of you but from here looks like C. No Q used

I agree with Tim. It looks like a C. I have never seen anything past an M (December) in that date code format. It would revert back to an A for January of the next year.
-
My vote is 8C27. Don't recall seeing an 'O' ever used for a date code.

At least not for the month code. Year and dates - plenty of "O"'s

That's the difference between 'O' and '0'... check your keyboard! :o ;D

Yeah, the flash gives it a different look than natural light... I guess the "C" used about a 0.148 mm gap between the open ends! Some sites note the use of a Q, but never seen it... I'll guess it sat for two months for some reason, fell off the truck or in a back corner.... ???

Typical 'Q' usage for dating has been for second year runs on warranty tags of a model year. For instance, Mustang production starting in March '64, but being a 1965 model year... when the normal March '65 rolled around and they were still making '65 models, then Q had to be used. Think there is a chart in the shop manual that shows the month codes as they apply to warranty tags (VIN plates.)
