Title: 68 X code - Leaf Spring ID
Post by: Oz390 on September 19, 2012, 03:44:26 AM
Pulled a pair off a 68 X code coupe, stamped C7ZA-5556-Y  G1-8D

Can't find a reference to the -Y in any of my docs (Ford/Mustang or Eaton).  Assuming G1-8D is date stamp,  G1 = ? 8D = April 68 (?) which would align with a mid May build date...

Considering getting them re-arched here, about 1/3 the cost of buying new Eatons and shipping... ($200 vs $600)

If you have a copy of the final issue of master parts catalog if references a spring that replaces the Y spring

Have the Y's listed in one of the period (think its the 67 version) of the MPC. As mentioned each version/printing listed what was carried at the time - not what was available originally - unless they were still being carried in stock at the dealership

Yes the last line (as we currently understand it) would identify who supplied them and a date
