Did Shelby use the blue oil pan that came on Hipos or did they change to the aluminum Cobra pans?
-
What year?
-
They started out (different year than your car) and then changed to the standard Mustang oil pan starting in 67.
Nothing special about a K code or Shelby 289 oil pan for a 67 that I know. So other than a nice clean steel pan will serve your need ;)

OK, thanks!

I have heard that early 67 GT-350 still used the COBRA oil pan. Is there any truth to that?

Popular addition to a 67 350 sure some buyers were not happy that that was dropped from the changes to the engines as it was in 65-66. Don't recall hearing that story over the years nor did I find it listed in the recently published registry for 67's in the running changes

So these pans were purchased over the counter from 65-66 stock? Were they aftermarket parts too?

Yes Ford (parts counters) and generic part stores could order and sell the aluminum pans to anyone that wanted to buy one - into the early 70's possibly. And then the reproduction ones (many made) followed that.
Here is a scan of the Ford Performance accessory catalog for one year. picture shows another oil pn (not the Msutang version but you get the idea.

The early 67 gt350's did not use the cobra oil pan because of clearance issues with the powesteering brackets etc. There was a cobra oil pan on #0001 when I bought it with some modified P/S hose brackets . I kept it on it because it may have been something that was tried and didn't work . I traced back as far as 1971 which may or may not have been original because it was already old by then. In 1989 when I bought it I decided to error on the side of caution when i restored it. In the years to follow I have not found documentation one way or the other to substantiate the Cobra oil pan on #0001. I have owned a number of single and double digit 67's and examined many more none had a Cobra pan .
