Post by: Twilight65 on March 14, 2013, 05:21:28 AM
Not sure if this is the right spot, but I thought I read somewhere that Ford had a promo license plate for six cylinder 66 mustangs. Does anyone have any information on this. thought it had to do with six shooter?Did a lot of searches on internet but came up empty.

Dave, I'm thinking if such a thing exists it might be shown in pictures in the original dealer sales brochure for the '66 Mustangs.

I think I've got 1 here, I'll check it and get back.......may be it could be reproduced........

Dave, I believe this is what you might be looking for.  It is the only 6cyl Promo License Plate that I know of.  Believe that is on Rick Schmidt's original 1966 Hardtop.

The gun in the license plate photo is a Colt Peacemaker for those who Don't know... I'm sure that they had some Copyright infringement issues with this plate...  As to whether the plate is/was available as "Original Ford" back in the day... Your guess is as good as mine.

PS: Dave, Shoot me an e-mail...Since you have completed your car.. I have something that you might be interested in..

Thanks,

Tony K.

Its funny you mention the Colt Peacemaker, as on the original peacemaker gun handle there was a horse(colt) in an oval reared on its hind legs. In the picture you posted looks  like its the Ford Running Mustang in the oval.
