Title: Grille / hood latch support bolts
Post by: app01 on April 03, 2013, 07:13:56 PM
70 May Dearborn Boss 302

So looking at the 1970 body manual, page 19  it has the Grille / hood latch  support and  looking at the bolt ID's (see attached picture), it shows bolts A,  B, and C as 57039-S2. With  the info I have found, the S2 is Phosphate and Oil. Most cars I have seen, as well as the vendor catalogs indicate these bolts as a Cadium finish  which would be an S7 or S39.  In fact all of the bolts on that page are indicated with an S2.

So my question is, what is the correct bolt finish?

Thanks

Looking at the pictures I have I see cad (or zinc but likely cad) and a darker finish (likely phosphate)  looking at the car vin's but have not identified change over point. But the cad one look like they came after the darker finish.

Just for the record looked at all Dearborn production Mustangs

Thanks.. So it is pretty safe to say that a May 70 production, had the Cad finish.
