Title: 70 B2 - Rear valence and blackout area
Post by: app01 on April 13, 2013, 09:54:41 PM
May 70 Dearborn Boss 302

I know that  the rear valance was hung during body paint, but my question has to do with the rear blackout on the Boss 302. Was the valance left in place during that blackout or was it removed? If left in place, a picture showing the blackout/body paint line would be helpful.

Also, what screws were typically in the valance typically during the body paint? If the valance was in place during the blackout, would there be any black paint on these screws?

Thanks,

Tony

Sorry no nice clear picture of a 70 Dearborn Boss with the original paint and rear bumper off :( Black line appears to stop at approx the area where the taillight panel bends back in towards the main body just under where the bumper covers and does not reach the top edge of the valance

All screws (this plant this year) were installed prior to exterior color was applied  - can't see any black on the screws or top edge of the valance in the pictures I have

Here are a few pics of the rear valance off the Boss I am currently restoring. It was all original paint and never messed with.  The screws had black paint on some of the screws on one side but the tape line was not straight, so some were plated. So the screws must have been installed what is typical, after paint with the exception of the two at each end, sometimes the center one is installed also, but they were all installed before the black out was done on this car. Dearborn built.  This might be a little late for you. But never the less I thought I would share.
