Subject: Best way to fill a 6cyl Rear End?

It's been eons (more like a decade or two) since I have had to fill a 6cyl rear end.. I know that there is a drain plug in the front of the rear near the driveline.

If you've filled a 6cyl rear within the last few years, I'd like to know what your method was of doing it.. The 8cyl is different.

I'm using 90 Weight Gear oil, and need to really know the best method you used to fill the rear, and how you know when you know how much is enough gear oil to put in.

Let me know...Since I need to do this tomorrow..

Thanks guys!

I'm not familiar with the proper procedure, but would think it it's in the Ford shop manual.

You use to be able to purchase gear oil that came with a handy pump attached - put the hose in the filler hole and pump till is ozzed out the fill hole

+1.  They also sell the pump separately.  Check your local auto parts store.  fill until oozes from the bottom of the hole as jeff described.
