I’m trying to determine what is correct for the shifter rods on my ’66 289 4-speed fastback. It’s a Dearborn car, built Dec. 8th, 1965. This concerns front of the shifter rods, where they bolt to the side of the transmission (if that makes any sense?) .
When I disassembled the car, the shifter rods were retained with wave washers and a hairpin clip. I thought this was correct, but looking at the kits NPD offers, it looks like the wave washer might've changed to standard flat washer at some point?
Is my setup correct for a December '65 Dearborn, and if so, does anyone have a source for these wave washers? Or is it simply a hardware store-type part that I can find locally?
Picture of NPD's kit, including flat washers:

The wave washers that were installed on my car (this is a stock photo I found on Google):

You need flat and wavy washers. From the outside on the rods: pin; flat washer; wavy washer; shifter arm. AMK has them.
