Title: 68 390gt Carburetor Date Code Question
Post by: kev on July 18, 2013, 11:45:06 AM
I have a quick question on the date codes for a 68 390 carb.

My car:   68, San Jose, S code, 4 spd.  Build Date 01/11/68

Looking over a carburetor that I have:

Specs:
C8OF-9510-C
LIST-3795-1
7A3
metering:  5482/4841

Question is about the date code.  I initially assumed it was 3rd week of January 67.  However based on this link, It may be 3rd week of November 67 (hoping that this is the case).

The autolite tag is long gone from the carb.  The site linked is confusing because it could either be 01/67 or 11/67???

Opinions?

Thanks in advance for your help,

kev

It's November 1967!  Seems like a good date for your car.

The Autolite tag would have Fords numbering of L for Nov to go along with the Holley A

Cool, thanks again!

I have another question in regards to the bowls for this carb.  Were they ever date coded?    One seems to have been replaced based on the lack of grime on it.  It also has what appears to be a date code on it.   The other one doesn't have this nor have any that I've seen photos of.

Here is a pic:

Sorry for all the questions.  Newbie here, I have a lot to learn.

thanks again,
