Title: 1965 Battery Apron Sheetmetal
Post by: rodster on August 07, 2013, 11:38:43 PM
Are all the reproductions created equal ?  May only need part of it for a patch but want to keep it as close to original as possible.

No they are not.  The first one I got I threw in the trash. It fit alright but was missing all the indentions that run across the top of the original. Generally when you order something that fits 65 - 67 it will fit but will need modifying to be Concours correct.

Don't think I'll need the section across the top but even some of the pictures of the repro pieces don't look right in the lower section where the battery tray sits. They aren't a lot of money so I'll take a chance with one and see if I can make it work.

Thanks...

Try to stay away from any original spot welds in the engine bay and patch if you can.  Very difficult to duplicate the correct appearance.

Ordered and received a 'premium' battery apron and was pleasantly surprised. Looks like the manufacturer paid attention to details.

Worth checking out if you can't find NOS or a good used section.
