Title: A/C under dash evaporator finish
Post by: C5ZZ on August 17, 2013, 12:04:23 AM
I am in the process of restoring my A/C underdash unit and looking
for the correct finish of the black paint used on the side covers and
filler that goes by the coin tray. This is a 65 unit. From what I could
see in spots it looks to be a glossy finish or very close to it, looking
for verification.

Also whats best to use on the main fiberglass case to bring the finish back?

The black side covers would have been a semi-gloss finish, more to the flat side.  Tray color would be more of a flat black with a touch of gloss.

Thanks Charles

On the main case what would be good to bring back the color?
I seem to remember a post about a heater case that someone
was using black shoe polish on, is that a good option here or is
there something better to use?

If it's in decent shape, you can clear coat it with semi-gloss clear.
