I am working on a 68 GT350 Fastback built 12-02-67. I was working on the under dash wiring when I noticed that it had the wiring for the rear window defogger. This option is not listed on the Marti report and appears to never to have been installed in the car. I have never seen this in the Mustangs I have done. Was this a mistake or something done with the Shelby's?

The first 68 Shelby underdash harness that I refurbished also had a rear defogger subharness. My notes state that power was obtained from the fuse box - 3 prong ACC connector. Is your harness integral to the main harness or an accessory harness?
-
It is integral with the main harness.

Very interesting. I've seen several 68 rear defoggers, some separate and some integral. I suspect it was a mid-year running change.

For educational purposes, was the rear defogger available on fastbacks and/or convertibles? I was assuming that they were a "coupe only" option based on (1) only seeing them on coupes, and (2) considering the lack of space to mount them on the other body styles.

The rear window defogger was only available on coupes and fastbacks. I have only seen one fastback with the option, it required a special fiberglass panel above the trap door. It was fairly common on coupes.

Thanks Marty

Marty, the triangle defroster plug was integral to the main harness on all 68 Shelbys although they were never installed. It just part of the tach convienience group underdash harness

Thanks Tim I wondered if that might be the case.
