Is there an alternative to the reproduction splash shield rubber you can get from the Mustangs parts suppliers? Do most people use the reproduction rubber kits? Anybody ever reused their original rubber pieces?

Nothing other than using originals. Seen my share installed upside down
Jack Brooks of DeadNutsOn borrowed one of my originals last year and was unable (at that time) to find anyone that could reproduce the item correctly with the fibers and all

"Most" people do not realize it was there.
Anybody ever reused their original rubber pieces?
Yes if you have one that is not cracked or split.. Some will soak them to get them to flex a little since they often become brittle, clean them and add their favorite rubber dressing

Another old post I found as I clean up and revitalize my splash shields. What is the suggested soaking fluid and rubber treatment to bring a little life and flexibility back to the rubber on the shields?

I make my own using 1/16" sheet gasket material from NAPA. Much closer to the look of the original material. Lay the originals on it and then cut them out. I make my own staples too.
The reproduction stuff seems to be made from some sort of neoprene.

For any treatment the concern and apparently yet to be tested, is the long term affect of the products and how quickly the material treated returns to its earlier - less flexible for example, form. I know that some of the stuff I use will work in the short term but the rubber dries out and it needs to be retreated
