Title: Correct Stainless Wipers for 1969 Mach1
Post by: jgkurz on December 05, 2013, 07:55:28 PM
Hi All,

I would like to buy new wipers for my 69 Mach1. It's not a perfect concours car but I like to keep it somewhat original where possible. Scott Drake has some wipers for sale but I have a couple questions regarding originality.

1) Do I want satin or polished?

2) Do I want a smooth or flared end cap?

Satin with the flared base - don't have one handy for the correct length

When I got to the wipers on my 1969 I found a seller in MI that had NOS period arms and blades (possibly production parts).

BEFORE you buy reproduction parts - I'd look into NOS ,anco , wiper arms on Ebay, research and compare.

Mark
P.S. Sorry I don't have info/link - but this is a great area where a bit of research might produce a 300% better option.  (They weren't that expensive either under $100 for the arms and blades)

#86 on bottom side between rivets on the arm is OE.

Interesting.  On my set the number is 85.  Brian

I'll have to check the ones I've got (put away a fair number the last three years) to see if that is consistant across all plants - sure your going to be right ;)

We have a tote of these 1969-70 Trico wiper arms.

I found at least 5 variations, majority would have come from Dearborn built cars and a few early 1969 San Jose Cougars.
85 is the number, can be positioned 'landscape' or 'portrait' style orientation. There can also be with or without an "X" on the upper level (in the circle). They can also not have a number 85.

yes its 85 & I took a gues from memory without looking at 1.  I have seen some 69-70 arms without the 85 but maybe on other side. the 67686970 arms all look the same But the flat spring at bottom goes from flat to an arch with the 85 stamping showing up in 69.
