Does anyone know where i can get some new nut zerts (pressed into the rear inner shock tower panel) where the hood hinge fastens to the car. They tend to pull out....i need a couple to either press back in or weld?? Can't seem to locate a source??? Thanks. Working on a 1965 mustang fastback..But i believe the nut zerts are same through 70?????

Try this link http://www.bigflatsrivet.com/square_nuts.php . I have purchased from in past & worked real well. Good luck.

I didn't see a picture of the nut on the web site, so if you are interested in their product, get a full spec sheet.

Nope their different - 65-70 are not all the same. After the somewhat round ones came the rectangle ones that are held in place by the thin sheet metal - not a nut-zert style of hardware.
I've always welded them on the engine side since all work is hidden by the hinge if there is anything to see.

How many do you need? I may have a couple...

The 65-66 style is a thick round (well almost - one side is flat) while the 69 is a thinner rectangle shaped (almost square) Both held to the car is a different fashion
Just had to replace one of them on my 69 that had fallen out

For my 70, I got them through AMK. They came in a pack of six. I welded mine in place. Little dab of seam sealer smooth's it in place. One thing about AMK, they have a minimum order value of $30...

I did not know AMK had them available, great information. As a side note for those who do not know you may purchase AMK products from NPD & there is no minimum purchase.

Yes, but as far as I know NPD only carry a small portion of the things AMK sells. I don't think NPD carries the hinge nut zerts for instance at least not that I have ever come across in the catalog. I try and get as much AMK stuff as I can through NPD because they ship right away where AMK typically takes 3 times as long.
-
Did a search on NPD's website and it appears they don't carry the hood hinge nuts. Yes, AMK takes a bit longer to ship and I like how NPD has the free shipping on orders over $300.

Ahhhh! The solution is to buy $300 of hood hinge nuts from NPD and get them quicker/cheaper with free shipping!

Ah, the impatience of youth, instant gratification grasshopper. A bit of planning and the savings that come from free shipping with a $300 minimum order can add up. Unless of course you have money to toss. As to AMK and their minimum of $30 per order, I again, plan ahead and don't find it too difficult to meet.
