Title: Engine bay wiring?

We (wife and I) are going to wire car forward of the firewall. Is this something we should not attempt or is there a wiring harness that we can use that is after market that fits concourse correctness that we can install? And does anyone have thoughts on the rest of the wiring (a pic of original look) for things like alternator, coil, solenoid, ect? Am I overstepping my bounds with not much wiring experience?

Currently there is no prefect concours correct (in all details) available that I know of. But the best currently looks to be made by Alloy. There are engine feeds, alternator harness and such that are premade also. Depending on what year your working on there are running changes and differences within a year.

For example there are two different shaped plugs at the voltage regulator in 65. In 69 there is an early and late front wire loom as well as a tach or no tach difference so make sure you specify/ask for what you need ;)

I rewired my coupe (with Alloy replacement parts) without any wiring experience but found this to be very useful-

Take photos, if its not too late, of your current wire routing before you remove anything.

All the Osborn produced Mustang Assembly manuals are useful. I've worn out my 66 body and electrical (I had three 66's at one time) and bought second copies. Where they are especially useful is in the use of an old device called a "pencil" to note changes, additions and mistakes. Pictures help but you are never sure what a previous owner did, plus anything that you did as well, so take them anyway (thank "you know who" for the digital camera).

One more thing - If you want to get closer to original, you might consider adding the harness part number label, most of which are available (although their accuracy might be suspect), to the harness as it is not included.
