My original glove box latch was missing when I acquired the car (I found that odd). I acquired these three latches pictured below:
Left = original "flat face"
middle = original rounded/domed face
right = "NOS" locking latch acquired in ford brown paper sack
I'm wondering two things:
(1) is there a difference in application of the flat vs round/domed face non-lovking latches? i.e. 67 vs 68 or other?
(2) Were the locking latches available when these cars were new or are these later accesseries available from dealers?

The square edge are 67 the rounded 68. Both years had locking and non locking. The locking one was part of the décor interior option. BTW the locking glove box shares the same key as the trunk.

it is also part of the visibility options group. mine had a round locking latch too, but no key. I purchased a set of nos locks and swutched the pins to fit the nos keys, as tge locking latch was the flat faced one.

Like in the photo.....as recently, er, ah "pointed" out to me.

Does the inside the glove box "catch" difference between locking &non locking?
Also any difference in yrs. 67-68?
Pictures if possible, please?

Hopefully this explains a bit more...
My car came also with the interior decor group, but I have a not locking latch...
So must there be another explanation about locking/not locking latches?
Kind regards,
Jeroen

I know of no visual difference on the inside view of the latch or catch between the locking or non locking.

Jeroen if your car originally had a deluxe interior you should have the locking latch. Possibly it was replaced.

FWIW, my '67 coupe has the Courtesy Light Group option; no Deluxe Interior, no Interior Decor group. The photo shows the original set of ignition & trunk keys, with the trunk key in the glove box latch.

Thanks for the reply's.
Marti, just to be sure : I have the interior decor group (is that the same as a deluxe interior?) or is there a difference? If so, what's the difference?
The Marti report says the interior decor group and deluxe seat belts.
Supposing that I can buy a NOS or OEM latch with key.... Will my existing key for the trunk be OK for the (new) latch of the glove box?
Thanks for clearing this out.
Kind regards,
Jeroen

Thanks Deuce!
If not to difficult in these vacation days, but could anybody explain the difference between deluxe interior and interior decor group, like mentioned/asked in my previous threat?
Thanks!
Jeroen

Jeroen, no difference between the two. Most if not all Ford literature referred to the option as the "interior decor' group". The term "deluxe interior" is what I would consider a generic term.

Ah, thanks John!

Thanks Jon, I was busy.
Sorry Jeroen I confused you, I should have used the correct Ford terminology.
