Title: 1969 San Jose cars emissions/timing sticker location on a 428 CJ
Post by: mikelj5S230 on March 21, 2014, 11:47:19 AM
There are Cougars that have this sticker on the driver's side valve cover up front, but Mustangs I have seen have it on the driver's side shock tower.  Were they in different places in San Jose Cougar CJs vs. San Jose Mustang CJs?  Is there a "correct" place for it to be?  It would seem odd that the same assembly line would put them in different places on different cars with the same engine.  Thanks.

Have you been looking at original untouched cars or "restored" ones?  ;)

Believe these were applied at the engine plants and not the car assembly plants. I have found them on the drivers side valve cover. I would guess that the ones you have seen on the shock tower was someone not knowing better and simply copying a 428 CJ Shelby from Dearborn  - like those cars were "restored" in the eastern part of the country

Thanks Jeff, yes the Cougars are original ones, the Mustang CJs I have seen were all restored.  So that probably explains it.
