Title: Uncovering painted over original markings
Post by: 67gtasanjose on April 13, 2014, 08:28:22 AM
What method of paint removal (of the repainted areas) might help improve chances of finding any markings, or has the ship sailed on these? I know the last time I repainted the engine bay, engine, trans, fenders were all off and I used Easy-Off Oven cleaner for degreasing and stripping paint. The majority of the first engine bay repaint came off as well as going down to bare metal in some areas. It was then repainted with Krylon semi-flat spray bombs. I seem to remember repainting all inside and outside aprons with the Krylon.

Soda blasting works well at removing paint and not damaging/etching the metal underneath.
